Meet the team
Chair, Paul Brooke
Paul Brooke joined Beverley Housing Charity as Chair in 2025, bringing more than 35 years of experience across the property and built environment sectors. As CEO and Founder of Specifi, a leading UK events company, Paul has worked extensively within architecture, construction, project finance, development, and facilities management. His career has included contributing to major infrastructure projects across Hull and East Yorkshire.
Living in Beverley, Paul was inspired by the charity’s long history and its continuing impact on the local community. “I was amazed to discover the charity’s work and the difference it makes for local people,” he says. “It’s a remarkable story of generosity, care, and social impact, and I’m excited to play a part in shaping its future.”
Paul combines his professional expertise with a strong understanding of the importance of high-quality housing in supporting people to age well. He is passionate about ensuring that residents feel safe, supported, and valued within their homes and communities.
As Chair, Paul leads and supports the Board of Directors, providing strategic direction and strong governance to ensure the charity remains sustainable, accountable, and true to its values. He works closely with fellow trustees and the executive team to oversee decision-making, guide long-term planning, and champion the charity’s mission to provide safe, welcoming, and supportive homes for more than 180 residents.
The Executive Team
Chief Executive, Andrew Barber
Andy joined Beverley Housing Charity in 2021, initially supporting the charity on an interim basis while serving as CEO at HEY Smile Foundation. In January 2023, Andy became the charity’s full-time Chief Executive Officer.
Since joining, Andy has worked closely with the Board and operational team to invest in the charity’s future. He has led the development of a new strategy, helped create a refreshed identity, and built partnerships that provide a platform to grow services for existing residents. Andy has also reviewed and strengthened the charity’s housing provision to ensure it meets the evolving needs of those living in independent accommodation.
Andy is an experienced and skilled Chief Executive with 20 years of operational leadership in the Voluntary, Community, and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector. He has also served as a Trustee and Governor across charitable and public organisations. In recognition of his services to the charitable sector in East Yorkshire, Andy was awarded an OBE. This honour specifically acknowledged his leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic, where he played a pivotal role in uniting local organisations, supporting residents and communities, and helping the region recover more quickly. The OBE highlights Andy’s lifelong commitment to improving the lives of local people and reflects the impact of his work in the sector.
Kerry Conner (Business Manager)
Kerry joined Beverley Housing Charity in November 2022, working alongside Andy and the Board of Directors to modernise the charity and ensure it is fit for the future. Her leadership focuses on finance, governance, and strategic oversight, ensuring the charity remains compliant with Charity Commission requirements while supporting ambitious plans for growth.
With over 25 years’ experience in the voluntary sector, Kerry brings a wealth of knowledge in operational excellence and a passion for continuous improvement. She plays a key role in guiding the Board, helping shape decisions that impact residents and the wider community, and ensuring the charity operates efficiently, responsibly, and sustainably.
Kerry is committed to making a real difference in people’s lives. She thrives on finding innovative ways to strengthen the charity’s operations, supporting its mission to provide safe, welcoming, and supportive homes for all residents
Angela (Repairs and Maintenance)
Angela oversees all maintenance at Beverley Housing Charity, managing both proactive and reactive repairs to ensure residents’ homes are safe, comfortable, and well maintained. She is often the first point of contact for residents and contractors, bringing a warm and reassuring presence to every interaction.
As one of the charity’s longest-serving staff members, Angela sits at the heart of the organisation. She supports both the team and residents, sharing her expertise and dedication to ensure the charity continues to provide high-quality homes for everyone.
Claire (Resident Engagement)
Claire joined Beverley Housing Charity in February 2022 to strengthen the charity’s capacity to engage with residents and ensure their voices are heard. She represents residents’ perspectives both within the organisation and with partner services.
Working closely with the Housing Committee, Claire supports the smooth and efficient journey for both existing and new residents, helping them feel welcomed, informed, and supported. Her commitment ensures the charity continues to provide services that meet the real needs of its community.
Steve Helliwell-Morris (Gardens & Wellbeing)
Steve works across all of Beverley Housing Charity’s sites, playing a key role in enhancing residents’ daily lives. He leads the development of the charity’s gardens, supporting the health and well-being of residents.
Often the face of the charity, Steve brings warmth, friendliness, and compassion to every interaction. A wealth of horticultural knowledge, combined with his long service, makes Steve a central and highly valued member of the charity team.
Jesse Rogers (Planned Works & Maintenance)
Jesse is a skilled joiner and all-round maintenance expert at Beverley Housing Charity, bringing a versatile set of skills to support residents and maintain their homes. His work includes full flat refurbishments, kitchen and bathroom installations, and basic plumbing tasks.
With his broad expertise, Jesse tackles a wide range of internal building works and maintenance needs, ensuring that any issues or repairs are addressed promptly. His dedication keeps residents’ homes safe, comfortable, and well maintained.
Kevin Marling, (Surveyor)
Kevin and his team of Chartered Building Surveyors play a central role in supporting Beverley Housing Charity’s property improvements. Working closely with our staff on a weekly basis, Kevin devises plans and cost estimates for essential renovations, ensuring works are carefully planned, efficient, and tailored to residents’ needs.
His expertise and collaborative approach help the charity maintain high-quality, safe, and welcoming homes, ensuring residents enjoy spaces that are thoughtfully maintained and improved.
