Beverley Housing Charity (officially Beverley Consolidated Charity) has a rich history dating back to the 1800s, formed through the amalgamation of several historic almshouse properties in the Beverley area. In May 2023, we adopted our working name to reflect our commitment to modern, quality housing while honouring our heritage.

Our vision has always been clear: to provide safe, high-quality homes for local residents and support the growth of affordable housing to meet increasing demand. Our properties are nestled in quiet corners of Beverley, offering peaceful yet accessible living for small, thriving communities.

As an almshouse charity, we provide accommodation for people who are over the age of 60 years old, in financial need, and who have been residents of Beverley, or surrounding areas for ten years or more. We combine the historic values of almshouse living with modern independent living, enabling singles and couples to enjoy a safe and supportive environment.

We charge maintenance instead of rent, saving our residents collectively over £360,000 a year compared with local rental values. While we do not provide care, we take pride in knowing our residents by name, supporting them to live independently in homes that meet their needs throughout retirement.

Currently, we provide homes to over 200 residents in one- and two-bedroom properties. Beyond housing, we invest in helping residents live full, independent lives—encouraging community engagement, facilitating access to local services, and supporting them to access the benefits they are entitled to

Our team particularly loves working with our friends at Beverley Community Lift Welcome | Caring, voluntary transport service, Cherry Tree Community Centre Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre | Advice | East Yorkshire | MIND Hull and East Yorkshire | | AGE UK |and the memorial hall Beverley Memorial Hall, to name a few.

We build strong and mutually beneficial relationships with the private, public, and voluntary sector organisations in and around Beverley. Endeavouring to invest locally whenever possible.
